The South Florida Bulls hosted nearly 100 prospects on junior day this past weekend. One of several local prospects in attendance was Tampa (Fla.) Alonso RB Ish Witter.
"It went good," Witter said of junior day. "I met all the offensive coaches and coach Taggart. They said an offer might come, but I don't know right now. They were telling me they really like running the ball, that they are a run first team and that they kind of like shorter running backs, like me."
The 5-foot-8, 190-pound prospect claims an offer from Rutgers and says that Iowa State and Massachusetts have been talking to him a lot recently. IN addition, Witter plans to attend Louisville's junior day.
Attending South Florida's junior day was his first event this offseason and he admits that he didn't know what to expect, but left impressed.
"The school is nice. I like the facilities and stuff," he said. "I like the coaching staff. I think they're great coaches with great personalities."
Slowed a bit by an ankle injury late in the 2012 season, Witter finished with 902 yards on 162 carries, including four games of 100-plus yards.
"I'm working mostly on my speed and my leg power [this offseason]," Witter said. I just want to stay healthy this year. It's an important year."
