See how Bulls247 graded the USF offense against Rutgers.
A little harsh of a grade for B.J. Our WR's dropped way too many passes yet again. B.J. actually did pretty well against their blitz completing short passes, or throwing the ball away. I was a bit miffed at why we didn't run the slant more, especially against their blitz when the middle of the field was wide open.
I thought the grades were fair(although I would probably give BJ a B- since it was his first game without Sterling). Also, the tight end grades were spot on. I really hope that Sean Price realizes how much this team needs his skills.
Darrell Scott right now has been the offense, and right now it looks like he is going to be out for syracuse Friday on a short week with a sprained wrist. Which means that Shaw is going to have to split the load in a major way to keep our running game fresh.
We saw in the pitt and rutgers game that Scott being the Bell Cow in the 1st half of games, that Murray is coming in fresh and strong in the second half of games. We are not going to have that luxury which means BJ is going to bear the brunt of the offfense on his shoulders. That could be trouble.
My question is where in the world has Lamar been, they have barely been using him. Except for a few games he has not been part of the game plan. He's a senior next year, and he's stuck behind Marc (who despite his mistakes is a beast in the making) and all the other receivers. He's no longer a running back. He's got no real role on the offense besides the occasional screen or sweep. I feel real bad for him, in my opinion he is one of the biggest weapons and talents on the team. I would not be surprised if things don't change he transfers to a team that is willing to use his talents, especially since he has a redshirt year available.
Ideally I would like to see him continue to gain weight in order to move back to running back and see him redshirt next year. When Murray and Scott leave, he could be a real Sproles like asset on the outside with Davis,Shaw, and whatever big back transfer we bring in working the inside.
