Winter Park 4-star quarterback Asiantii Woulard committed to USF in February, only to decommit nearly six weeks later. Although he still was high on the Bulls, Woulard's original decision was rushed and on April 3rd he felt it was best to decommit.
Woulard remained uncommitted throughout the spring and picked up several offers from teams like Ole Miss, Boston College, Cincinnati, Syracuse, Wake Forest and UCF. However, after carefully thinking things over with his family, Woulard now feels it's time to make his final college choice.
"I am committing to USF," said Woulard. "I chose USF because it's close to home and I can play early. I don't want to go to a program that is already established and I'm just maintaining that. I want to creat history and help bring USF it's first Big East Championship, it's first National Championship, I want to make history."
Decommitting from USF was one of Woulard's toughest life decisions. In an unexpected twist, he says it was the USF staff that helped him through it. They fully supported his decision, saying that if he felt uncomfortable, then they wanted him to do what was best.
"That meant a lot to me. That showed that they really, really bought into me and it gave me confidence in them. A lot of schools would not have stuck by me and it shows that I'm truly their guy."
Now that he is solidly committed to USF, Woulard is going to help USF build their 2013 class. Quarterbacks are typically the face of any team and the same goes in recruiting.
"There are a few guys I'm going to work on. I know USF likes my teammate Blake McClain a lot and (Orlando Freedom WR) Jeff Badet. I will do a little somethin' with those guys," said Woulard with a laugh.
"This is definitely my final decision, I'm done. It's a relief. Things began to get really stressful for me."
Woulard also says USF fans can expect to see the Bulls hat more often. His green hat with the iconic "U" was a staple of Woulard's at camps and combines. However, he stopped wearing for the last six months. That will change.
"Yes the hat will be back, definitely."
