Two Key Players
B.J. Daniels had a game-high 330 total yards as the Bulls dropped their sixth straight game on Saturday night to Syracuse.Daniels had 147 rushing yards and 183 passing yards, 1 touchdown. The senior tied Matt Grothe for second all-time with 52 passing touchdowns.
Ryan Nassib engineered a game-winning drive to push the Orange past the Bulls. Nassib was 27-40 passing for 328 yards and four touchdowns. The Syracuse gunslinger was accurate all night, especially on the game-winning drive.
Four Key Plays
B.J. Daniels rushes for a huge 53 yard gain in the beginning of the second quarter to get the ball inside the 20 yard line. The play was sprung by a beautiful fake to Lamar, who the defense crashed on allowed Daniels to get outside. The play led to a 33-yard field goal by Maikon Bonani to give USF a 13-3 lead.
Syracuse missed 22-yard field goal with 6:07 left in the first half. The Bulls stopped Syracuse at the one-yard line to force the field goal attempt. Immediately after the missed field goal Lindsey Lamar breaks an 80-yard touchdown run on the first play from scrimmage.
Syracuse marches down the field on its opening drive after halftime. USF had breakdowns in the defensive secondary that resulted in a pass interference penalty, and a 31-yard touchdown completion.
Daniels and Murray fumble on the exchange with 8:46 remaining in the third quarter. Syracuse takes over at the Bulls’ 33 with a chance to take its first lead in the game.
