USF leads for Orlando WR

The Bulls are making a habit of attracting some of the top talent in Orlando to make the trip across Interstate-4 and call Tampa home. Freedom wide receiver Jeff Badet is the latest to earn a verbal offer from USF – and they quickly jump to the top of Badet’s list.

“I’ve been waiting for it,” Badet said. “I’m excited. Finally, they pulled the trigger on me.”

A decision for the 5-foot-11 wide receiver could come very soon.

“I told Coach [Todd] Fitch that I would have my decision on Saturday,” he explained. “I either commit on Saturday or I just wait and see all my options.”

Badet has a close relationship with quarterback commit Asiantii Woulard.

“He’s probably going to tell me to hurry up and commit,” Badet said with a laugh. “I talk to JoJo [Kemp] a bit too.”

If Badet does pledge the Bulls this weekend his recruitment is not necessarily over.

“If I do commit, I’m still going to take my official visits to other colleges and check them out,” he said. “Coach said that if think I have a strong commit he would be okay with it because he knows that we only get this experience once.”

Badet went on to say that if the staff thinks he is a soft commit they would be much more uneasy about him taking visits.

One of the things that will play into his final decision is the opportunity for early playing time.

“It would have a big role,” Badet said of the thought of redshirting. “I don’t want to sit out a full year. I can’t sit there and watch my team play. I don’t like that.”

Badet wants to make a splash. He wants to be an impact player earlier and he thinks he can be that player in the slot for the Bulls.

“I feel like I can go down there and be a very good slot receiver. I can create mismatches and create openings,” he explained. “I can be a good, valuable player on the team.”
