I've confirmed what the USF Rivals site is reporting that 2014 ATH Jimmy Bayes committed to USF today.
He's a long, rangy 6-3 WR/DB for Immokalee.
Good pick up if it sticks, long way till 2014 Signing Day

Nice to get off to an early start
Well, here come offers from Cincy, since they use the tried and true USF recruiting service to find Florida prospects. Who else? LVille? Miss St? At least they have FL connections.
This is great news. But my main concern is if he stays or not. Have we ever had a recruit commit this early and actually end up at USF come signing day? Seems like all of them commit and then pounce on the first big offer they get.
Don't forget Kentucky. Stoops has an automatic invitation for any USF recruit.
Lol well, there's the recruit we were waiting on.
We had Brion Carnes, but Louis Leo Holtz blew that commitment
Alex Mutt. He even grey shirted to help out.
Wasn't the Fason kid an early commit back in the day?
I feel you there... but I think the big difference with coach Taggart is we'll win games and compete for BE titles as opposed to getting a commit and then losing even more games the next year than the last... That didn't help going from 8 wins to 5 wins and eventually to 3 wins. I'd be inclined to choose another school also under those circumstances.
Love the size of this kid.
Yes, he committed his junior year at Hillsborough high school. Ended up flipping to the Gators his senior year.
Josh, can you double reverse unjinx USF on this and just make sure he never gets more than 3 stars? That way he stays with USF
Hahaha! I'll be sure to cap his rating at 3-stars.
That actually worked out... kid hasn't done anything at Nebraska.
Until he flips to UF. Then we will complain about the way you treat us.
Yes,yes I agree. Seems like he is trolling us for that popular SEC school stuff pitch line. We need to and will get out of the BE. After we become sexy again.
Carnes would be the number 1 option at QB for USF if he was on the roster now. Yes, he was raw but he would have had several years to develop. The year he arrived, he was red shirted and Taylor Martinez won the starting job. Martinez hasn't relinquished the starting job since and is a 3 year starter. Nebraska has recruited the QB position very nicely since Carnes has been at Nebraska. Don't forget the likelyhood of getting Ace Sanders to commit to USF would have been greater if the USF coaches didn't run Carnes away. Ace probably wasn't going to come here after LEavitt left but the Carnes situation sealed our fate. No one can debate that we could really have used Carnes last season and the upcoming season.
You know the reason that Holtz cut his scholarship was because he was afraid of Taggart. Just saying....
The easiest way to keep an early commit is to win. You win and make a good or great bowl game... they stay with their commitment. You lose, well we saw what happens when you lose.
2014 commitment? That is one of the most idiotic things ever. We can't hold on to 2013 recruits. I may be the only one thinking this, but this reminds me of when USC "öffered" a 12 or 13yr old kid.
You're the only one... We as well as every other major program in the country have been doing this for years. That's why it isn't a big deal on this or any recruiting blog. But SC offering a 13 year old kid is funny. I live in California and know it happened a couple of times a long time ago, but I've not heard of anything like that recently as it people found out it doesn't work. Kid could have stunted growth, get injured, or just be plain old dumb. So teams don't do it. But I'm happy we offered 2014 because their season starts in about 7 months and Camps will be this summer so you want to attempt to lock up those guys though they may change their minds, if you win, they normally don't. Our problem is under Skip we were not winning.
And considering our record over the past two years we've done a remarkable job with our 2013 class. I don't know why you think we can't hold the recruits... some we didn't want to hold because they were Skips and inferior quality... others ... that's just recruiting. That happens to literally every school, that's why you over recruit because you know you'll lose some... well except Alabama.

And consider this: Its better he shows immediate interest now, it makes fighting to keep him easier than if we were a longshot in the first place.
