No matter how bad the scheme was a good D-line is going to get to a QB every flippin once in a while, they will come off of blocks to make tackles. In short the coaching sucked, but so did the players.
Players will play down to coaching. We had three four star D-linemen last year. You can't tell me that all three were flops. I mean every school in the state wanted Elkino Watson, and Giddens when they came out and Mims started as a freshman at Texas and had a great year. So I don't buy the guys can't play, I say they weren't motivated and had very poor coaching. I think our D-line next year will be really good once they get coached up and actually like the coach. I get the feeling from guys I still know on the team they were never quite fond of some of the coaches at all. I'd venture to say some openly disliked the coaches.... one in particular I heard a lot of bad things about. Not saying it's what was said was true, but even that kind of talk points to a problem. I also understand that losing causes frustration too and that could have a lot to do with it. But it is what it is. I guess we'll see if new coaching breathes new life into these guys. I do think Taggarts practices will be a lot more intense than Holtz's was. I just hope no Vero Beach... keep them home. Vero seems a waste of money and time. Save the money and think about an on campus stadium. Every penny counts.
