Do you consider USF-Miami a rivalry?

  • I'm working on a post this week for TBR and I'd like to hear what you guys think. I want to know if you guys see the annual (for now) USF-Miami game as a rivalry. Try to explain why exactly you feel that way too. Thanks in advance for whatever responses I get!

  • Good question....I'd like to see what Bulls fans think.

  • Not really yet. They hate us because we are new and beat them but we need to beat them again to have their hatread grow.

We are just excited about beating them. If we beat them a couple of times and then they beat us when it means something things will change quickly.

I really don't consider FSU a rival game either. It was more like an embarrasment to them. If we beat them in Tampa we will start to be more of an irratant to them. Unless they start playing better so it would cost them something to loose to us, it really doesn't hurt enough to be a rivalry.

  • I really agree with Keith... I think we need more games between us before it's considered a rivalry for either FSU or UM. I actually asked a team member this week if they considered it a rivalry... his response was that they really don't think of it that way... they just want to win the game.

  • not a rivalry level yet however if USF can win all the remaining games in the series that might be enough bad blood to continue the series so that they can right the ship & defend their name, after all they're "Da U." If we keep winning we might just trigger the series to keep on going

  • Not a rivalry yet. Could have turned into one if the series continued.

  • I think there's still a chance that UM calls us back. We have two more games after this year and we both know that both teams need someone to play on Thanksgiving weekend (although it seems that Big East officials need to ruin everything about the conference). If USF and Miami have a meaningful game next season (Obviously I'm banking on both teams actually being good), I think Miami will consider keeping this good thing going.

  • I feel the same as the rest of the posters. Its not a rivalry, but it could grow into one if we keep playing them every year with each team having success against one another.

We have started recruiting head to head with them the past 3-4 years and playing them every year on top of the recruiting aspect is a formula for a budding rivalry. Not to mention the Tampa vs Miami thing and the fact that we are the named University of South Florida, when in actuality the U is the University of South Florida sports fans.
