Josh, not sure how credible you think

  • Swaim is, but this tweet was a bit interesting.

    GSwaim BigTime TV/Radio
    #Big12 likely #BYU and 2 from #BigEast when #Mizzou leaves, then to #USF #UCF and more next round, year from now. #WVU #CardNation #Bearcats

that would be great if true....but how often has Greg Swain been correct? That is, would consider him more or less reliable than Andy Katz....who is NEVER right?

I won't say that's right, but it goes against EVERYTHING I've been hearing.

To be honest, most of the stuff we've been reporting here has been correct. Or at least, not far off.

  • Don't know how accurate or up to date this info is as things change by the minute, but the last couple of days I've heard directly from a few in the know within usf athletics about what is about to happen and I thought I'd at least pass it on. Josh can validate what he is hearing in regards to this.

Missouri is headed to the SEC today after the curators meeting.
WVU will be invited to the Big 12 today withdrawing from the Big East this weekend and accept as the 10th team to replace them.
WVU has put the Big East on notice.

WVU is needed to play next year in the Big 12, and will negotiate an early exit at a higher exit fee and will most likely get their way. Not mentioned was pitt and syracuse early exit,so I don't know about them. Didn't ask but I assume because wvu has been upfront and pitt/syracuse has not.

The Big East and the member schools have been assured privately that that the Big East will have the BCS tag for at least the next 4 years with the last 2 being BCS transitional years if the current format is kept, because syracuse and pitt are being forced to stay and partly because of the academies. They believe they will keep BCS after 4 years due to academies and the strength of those teams being bought in the next 4 years.

The Big 12 will stop at 10 for now. BYU and other Big East teams are not coming on for now. The big east has been told by neinas they are only taking 10, for now.
Air Force,Navy, Houston, SMU, and UCF will accept.
Boise State has notified Big East as of now they are not coming.
ECU will get football only invite to replace WVU. They will be team 11.
Army will accept football only invite after Air Force and Navy join to be team 12.

Big East and USF think they can rebuild conference with these 12, but the internal belief is that the all major conferences are going to 16 and they with others from new Big East will be picked up then. As of now USF is not being considered for Big 12.

Pretty much this has all been mentioned by josh and speculated by media, but thought I would pass along what I have heard.

Goes against everything that Neinas said about location, but this whole realignment deal has been one big puzzle, so it wouldn't surprise me if it happened.

The only thing I would disagree with if this scenario unfolded would be the Big East keeping the BCS bid. We're losing our best program in regard to BCS number.

I think there are more benefits of staying in the Big 12.

They'd have a difficult time winning that many SEC games each year.
