  • Wow. Really thought this kid had a good chance of being a Bull.

Good luck to him, and hopefully he can study the shit out of Duke classes.

  • Greg Auman in the Thursday's chat said something really interesting that hasn't been mentioned here.

Kurt Benkhert has decided on USF, but the coaches refuse right now to take his commitment. I assume they they would refuse Darryl Richardson if he tried to commit right now.

He said they are looking for bigger fish at Quarterback this season than those guys. Sounds as the early enrollees get closer to reality and if the Bulls have a huge season like they expect to it will draw serious attention of the elite qbs.

Keep in mind they may be more interested in a JUCO QB at this point. Maybe that's why they're slow playing Benkert, if they are at all..

Yeah he tried to commit but was told he couldn't. They also told him he was still there #1 QB but wouldn't let him commit when he tried to. He's better off not committing there. It amazes me how many lies he has been told in the recruiting process by so many teams. They will see what they lost out on when they have to play against him in the future. Maybe that's why USF keeps losing out on so many talented QB'S that are committing elsewhere.

They landed the top QB in the state and their top target. So, I think they are doing ok there.

Now if you want to talk Middle Linebacker...we have a discussion.

  • The comments from the coach bring up an interesting discussion. I have to say, I think recruiting has to be one of the toughest jobs in the world.

You create a recruiting board. Lets say you have 10 QBs on your board that you want to send an offer to and start recruiting.

You are trying to build a relationship with all these kids, coaches, families, etc.

Now lets say the QB that you have ranked # 8 on your board wants to commit early...but you only have 1 spot that year for a QB. You have to somehow tell them you can't accept their commit right now, but need to walk on eggshells as to not piss them off...just in case you miss out on guys 1-7.

If you are honest and say that you have a bunch of guys you like better that you are still in play for, that will turn them off. So you can't be completely honest. You have to make them all think that they are the top guy on your board.

Or lets say guy #3 wants to commit, but you really think you have a shot at 1 and 2. You have to gamble, because if you don't accept the commit and you miss on 1 and 2, now #3 will have probably moved on. Or like in our case, you land your # 1 guy...and then he decommits. Now you are scrambling. There are so many scenarios like this that can play out.

I have no idea how they do that without completely pissing everyone else off in the process.

Josh probably knows more, but it seems like FSU had an issue with a kid wanted to commit to FSU yesterday and now its started a shit storm. Even Amy Campbell bashed the FSU staff on Twitter and said that an uncommitable offer is not an offer and that FSU should be ashamed.

    Tough tough business.
