Why let Holtz leave for UNC when we can just fire him?

  • He's so bad. Penalties everywhere that last minute says it all, thats why this stuff happens to USF and they lose in the last minute all the time, not to mention that Holtz has terrible clock management.

    I don't care about the affect it has on recruits either, they all seem to be leaving anyway, Price opened his recruiting up, Cameron isnt going to go here, I wouldn't be surprised if UF offers Bivins and he goes there. . .Besides I don't care who we're getting keeping Holtz on isn't worth it he's such a schmuck, how do we finish behind UConn in the Big East???

  • I was a big fan of Holtz, but the team doesn't have the look of a well coached team.

    I would be very suprised if UNC hires Skip. I would think the UNC fan base would go nuts. In a bad way.

  • There was definitely plenty of blame to go around this season. The staff struggled at times. For example, I have always hated that wishbone formation inside the five. Hate it. It's worthless and never works, but Fitch loves it for some reason. It's to cute. Just run the damn ball up the middle. It worked on their next possession. Two Murray runs and a BJ sneak for a TD. The overwhelming issue this season was inexperienced young players making huge fundamental mistakes at terrible times in the game. For example, Giddins PF penalty. That was horrible. Injuries at key positions (WR and DB) were critical too.. Those injuries really hurt special teams coverage teams. Couldn't play the starters on ST, becaue they had to take so many reps as starters. So, as a result freshman and walkons had to play ST.

    I'm very disappointed with this season, but I definitely want to see what Skip can do with a veteran senior and junior led team next season.

  • Those illegal substitutions calls? the THREE fade passes in the redzone? Bad time management. You could even argue that the penalties are the result of bad coaching. If players lack discipline you can blame that on the coach.

  • Not saying Price will end up here but when did he open his recruiting back up? Just like Bivins, he's made no secret that he was going to take his visits. Both of those guys are from small towns with not alot of cash... visits are away for them to see the country in a way they could not normally afford. Let them be teenagers.

    Sounds like opening up your recruiting to me.. It doesn't matter though, point is, that its not worth keeping Holtz to make sure these guys all go here because, honestly, the way this season is going, they arent going to go here

    There is another way to look at this.

    Yes, the season was brutal and no one saw it coming, but if you're a guy like Price or Bivins and you've watched the game you see that you'll come in right away and play.

    Our offense would be sick next season with Dunkley coming in and potentially D'Vo and Price.

    We may actually be able to throw over the middle of the field then.

    In regards to the future I am optimistic.

    Landing D'Vo is hopefully the start,
